Colorful Summer Backyard Wedding with Fresh Fruits, Vegetables, and Herbs

If you’re looking for unique, non-traditional wedding flowers, this vibrant summer backyard wedding might just inspire you! When Nedda and Derek envisioned their Southern California wedding, they wanted something fresh, creative, and a little unexpected. With the natural beauty of a lush backyard full of blooming flowers, we designed a wedding full of bright colors, fresh herbs, and edible décor that added a whole new level of interactive fun for their guests.

Interactive Centerpieces with Fresh Fruits, Vegetables, and Herbs

One of the standout details from this wedding was the centerpiece design. Instead of traditional floral centerpieces, we created displays using fresh fruits, vegetables, and fragrant herbs. Each table featured a lazy Susan with an abundant spread of seasonal produce—think vibrant tomatoes strung together, juicy berries, kumquats, and sprigs of mint and lavender. Not only did these unique wedding centerpieces bring a pop of color to each table, but they also provided an interactive experience. Guests could see, smell, and even nibble on the elements, creating a fun, sensory experience that truly made the decor unforgettable. Using edible, fresh ingredients as wedding decor is a fantastic option for couples looking for unique wedding ideas that celebrate the season.

A Bold Bridal Bouquet for a Stunning Teal Wedding Dress

To complement the bride’s beautiful teal, cream, and gold wedding gown, we designed a bridal bouquet that would truly stand out. With rich reds, deep hues, and faux pomegranates (since fresh ones were out of season), the bouquet added a lush, dramatic touch. This bold bouquet was the perfect choice to match the bride’s colorful, elegant style and provided a unique wedding floral look that moved beyond traditional white flowers.

Vintage Vases and Thrifted Decor for a Personal Touch

Adding to the one-of-a-kind charm of this backyard wedding, the couple brought an assortment of thrifted vases they had collected together. I filled each vintage vase with non-traditional, whimsical blooms to complement the fresh fruit and herb centerpieces. These unique wedding details added warmth and character to the overall design, while the eclectic touches made each table feel personal and inviting.

This Southern California wedding is a perfect example of how unique wedding decor ideas, seasonal elements, and interactive details can create a memorable and meaningful celebration.
